Hierarchical Piece Distribution Method for Cooperative Group Formed within Wireless LANs in BitTorrent

(in English) In recent years, there has been an increase in instances within facilities and areas where a large number of users within the same wireless LAN network download the same file, such as during the distribution of materials. While BitTorrent is effective for distributing files to numerous users, in wireless LANs, the attempt by many users to exchange data pieces independently leads to frequent frame collisions and reduced download efficiency. To address this issue and utilize the wireless channel efficiently, this paper proposes a method where cooperative groups are hierarchically divided into two, allowing the upper group to prioritize wireless channel usage for piece downloads. Additionally, it proposes a method in which the terminals in the upper group receive the data through a reliable communication protocol, and the other terminals in the cooperative group also obtain the same data at the same time by overhearing, improving content sharing speed among users on the same wireless LAN, as confirmed by computer simulations.
