Performance Evaluations of Adaptive 3D Tile Quality Control Method for Room-scale 6DoF Point Cloud Streaming

(in English) In recent years, six-degree-of-freedom (6DoF) point cloud streaming has attracted much attention as a means to achieve highly realistic and immersive communication. In order to achieve high-quality point cloud streaming, it is necessary to improve the technology in each phase, such as 3D tiling, transmission 3D tile selection, and optimal bit rate allocation for transmission quality determination, and they should be integrated in an efficient manner. In this paper, we propose a spatial point cloud streaming quality control method based on adaptive 3D tiling, occlusion-aware 3D tile selection, and distance-driven quality optimization. We show that the proposed method improves objective quality (up to 0.026 LPIPS) and reduces data size by up to 14.8% compared to the baseline method.
