This paper proposes a simple pass-band channel simulator and a simple channel parameter evaluation scheme for underwater acoustic communications (UWAC) in shallow sea environment assuming horizontal communication services. The channel environment of shallow sea can be approximated to the 2-path channel model, i.e., the direct path and the delayed path reflected by sea surface. The proposed channel simulator employs the pass-band channel model and can cope with severe double selectivity and large signal band-width to center frequency ratio. First, the pass-band channel simulator introduces amplitude fluctuation due to reflection by sea-surface for the delayed path, referring to the experimental results in a shallow sea environment. Next, this paper performs numerical analysis of the channel parameter evaluation scheme with respect to double selectivity in shallow sea environments. |
