(in English) Memorizing a text string is not easy and requires a certain amount of time and effort, such as repeating the act of memorizing. In our previous study, we proposed a fluency control method in which the readability of a target string changes in response to eye gaze, and showed that it improves the ease of memorizing the target string. However, since we used an unaltered object for comparison, it was unclear whether the effect was due to the fluency control linked to eye gaze or the fact that the memorized object stood out like a pop-out. Therefore, in this study, we experimented using highlights, which are often used in actual learning, as a comparison object and verified its memorability. The experimental results suggest that the length of gaze at the target is important for the memorization rate. In addition, the proposed method showed a longer gaze duration for each word and better memory efficiency than highlighting, indicating the usefulness of the gaze-linked fluency control.
