[Invited Talk] R&D of Efficient Support of Prevention and Recovery of/from Frailty Using Multisensory ICT -- Approaches with Virtual Spaces --

(in English) The demand for medical care and nursing care will increase rapidly after 2025, when the baby boomers will be 75 years old or older (called the 2025 problem). Therefore, there is an urgent need to prevent frailty, which is an intermediate state between “healthy” and “care-needed” states, and to recover from frailty. In this situation, the authors are focusing on frailty and developing systems and devices to support early detection, prevention, and recovery of/from frailty using multisensory ICT in order to shorten the period of care-needed state, with the aim of realizing an age-free society, in which the elderly can be active and contribute to society. In this talk, we introduce a virtual calligraphy system and a walking support system using a metaverse (virtual park) as approaches using virtual spaces.
