Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) This paper reports the results of radio propagation channel measurements at the 105 GHz sub-terahertz (sub-THz) band in a conference room desktop environment and discusses the feasibility of sub-THz high-speed communication operating in such environments. The frequency band from 100 GHz to 300 GHz is referred to as the sub-THz band, which has attracted attention due to its wide bandwidth. Recently, several institutions performed channel measurements for the practical use of sub-THz. However, most of them use radio waves above 110 GHz. Therefore, there have been few radio propagation measurements at the 100-110 GHz band, especially focusing on multipath characteristics. In this study, we conducted 105 GHz power angular delay profile (PADP) measurements with 4 GHz bandwidth. In this process, the PADP including angular characteristics was measured by rotating a highly directional horn antenna at the receiver side to obtain multipath delay and angular characteristics. Based on these multipath propagation characteristics, we discuss the availability of the physical layer waveform of international standards for wireless communications using 60 GHz band, such as IEEE802.15.3c and IEEE 802.11ad for 105 GHz band communications. The results suggest that there is a high possibility that the physical layer waveform of IEEE 802.11ad and IEEE 802.15.3c can be diverted even if a broad bandwidth 4 GHz is used.
