Beamforming using multiple antenna elements has been considered to increase high-speed wireless communications, but it requires searching for beams to be used. The search time increases as the number of candidate beams increases. To reduce the beam search time, a beam search scheme with fast beam steering has been proposed. Fast beam steering uses phase shifters that can switch phases quickly within a single symbol. The beam steering is performed within a single synchronization signal block (SSB), and the number of beam search cycles can be reduced by using multiple beam searches in a single SSB instead of one beam search per SSB as in the conventional scheme. However, the performance of cell ID detection is degraded due to the high-speed beam steering. This report clarifies the effect of the variation pattern of the fast switching phase rotation on the cell ID detection performance. |
