An optical path reuse method to provide optical transport path in a short time

(in English) The APN (All Photonics Network) being considered by IOWN will enable on-demand optical path connection services and is expected to significantly increase the number of optical path connection points. On the other hand, it is expected to be difficult to migrate existing optical transmission networks to APN at once, since it will be necessary to migrate to the method and architecture standardized by the IOWN Global Forum and then to upgrade the facilities to compatible equipment. In this study, as one of the assumptions during the transitional period of APN migration, we focused on the fact that shortening the optical path opening time is an important issue in realizing on-demand APN connections and increasing the number of connection points, while maintaining control via the EMS. To address this issue, we propose a method to reduce the optical path opening time by reusing optical paths in the optical path opening order. Implementation and evaluation results show that, under several assumptions, the reduction of optical path opening time can be achieved by leaving unneeded optical paths for a certain period of time.
