Further improvement of frequency utilization efficiency is required for Beyond 5G and 6G in 2030. As one of the approaches, full duplex communication (Full Duplex) is being studied. Compared with conventional FDD (Frequency Division Duplex) and TDD (Time Division Duplex), full duplex has the advantage of doubling the communication capacity under certain conditions. However, millimeter waves have the problem of short propagation distance due to free-space propagation loss and strong linearity, and are easily affected by obstacles such as buildings, resulting in a narrower communication range. One solution to this problem is to install relays or IRS (Intelligent Reflecting Surface). By inserting a relay or IRS between a base station and a terminal, communication is possible even in locations out of the line of sight of the base station due to buildings, thereby expanding the communication range. In this paper, the performance of FDR (Full Duplex Relay) using millimeter wave for UE (User Equipment) in radio dead zones is evaluated by computer simulation and the results are reported. |
