Impedance Tuning Elements for Conjugate Matching of Linear Antennas with ICs

(in English) This paper focuses on the adjustment elements for the impedance of linear antennas to achieve complex impedance conjugate matching with integrated circuits (ICs). With the proliferation of electronic devices such as IC tags and RFICs, where the IC and the antenna are integrated, the output impedance of the IC is complex, often having a capacitive reactance component. Given this background, specific matching circuits are required to achieve impedance matching between the antenna and the IC. This paper discusses a method of adjusting impedance on the antenna side using impedance adjustment elements for linear antennas. This method allows for the adjustment of circuit impedance, which has frequency dependency in the microwave band, enabling more efficient impedance matching. Furthermore, the paper discusses the historical background of this technology, compares it with existing technologies, and explores its future development possibilities. Specifically, it elaborates on the principles and application examples of impedance adjustment using T-match technology, examines the current status and challenges of impedance matching in IC tag antennas, and considers a new proposed structure. Finally, the paper summarizes the importance of adjusting complex impedance in antenna design and the research direction for this purpose.
