[Invited Lecture] Advancement of Wireless Communication Systems Using Space-Time Synchronization

(in English) Space-time synchronization is one of the research and development (R&D) areas that should be emphasized for 6G and beyond 5G. Space-time synchronization is defined as a state in which all nodes in a region are always synchronized and each node knows its distance from its neighbors. With the remarkable progress in device technologies including reference signal oscillators, ranging and positioning technologies, and so on, time-space synchronization has become more and more accurate in recent years. Space-time synchronization is expected to be essential not only for applications such as cyber-physical systems (CPS) but also for advancing other communication-related technical fields. This presentation will first introduce an overview of the research and development trends in space-time synchronization. Next, the author will explain the research on wireless communication systems utilizing space-time synchronization, especially on simultaneous connection technologies for multiple wireless terminals, conducted by the author's group so far. Finally, the author will also discuss the expectations for 6G and beyond 5G in the future.
