[Invited Talk] Recent developments in multicore fiber connection technology

(in English) The use of Multi-Core Fibers (MCF) in transmission systems is a promising solution to increase the communication capacity per installation cross-sectional area in response to the growing data traffic. The deployment of MCF undersea cables has been announced for 2023, marking the entry into the practical stage. To commercialize space-division multiplexing transmission technology using MCF, various connection technologies for connecting MCFs and for inputting and outputting signals between MCF and single core fibersare necessary. In this paper, we provide an overview of the research achievements in these connection technologies.
