Integrity Assurance for Aircraft Navigation System using Ground Surface Image

(in English) There are many cases that GNSS cannot be used due to jamming or spoofing even though aircraft navigation relies on it. Therefore, multi-DME positioning using multiple distances between each DME ground station is being considered as a backup for GNSS. On the other hand, the RNP routes of aircraft require the integrity of the positioning system. Alerts must be raised appropriately when anormal events occur in positioning. The integrity assurance can be conducted using range data from multiple DME ground stations. However, multi-DME positioning sometimes cannot utilize a sufficient number of DMEs in Japan due to the characteristic mountainous region. Therefore, the authors have been studying whether it is possible to assure the integrity using ground surface images. This paper reports the results of a basic study using drones as an alternative to aircraft.
