Implementation of NVMe over TCP using SPDK and Its Performance Measurement

(in English) Generative artificial intelligence has attracted a great deal of attention in recent years, and there is an emerging need for training and inference tasks for large-scale deep learning models that gather large amounts of data. And in data centers, computers such as General Purpose Graphical Processing Units (GPGPUs) for large-scale parallel computing and storage devices such as Solid State Drives (SSDs) for high-speed access to large amounts of data are often employed. To meet the demand for such computing facilities, we believe that disaggregated computer architecture are effective, i.e., provisioning GPGPU clusters and SSD clusters separately and interconnecting these clusters. This paper presents a disaggregated computer architecture based on NVMe-over-Fabrics. It also presents an implementation based on the Storage Performance Development Kit (SPDK) and performance evaluation results obtained from experiments using the implementation.
