Beyond 5G and 6G, terahertz band communications between aircraft, high-altitude platforms (HAPS), satellites, and the ground are being considered as use cases for next-generation communication systems. However, the clutter loss model recommended by ITU-R is limited to frequencies below 100 GHz. Therefore, we modeled the radio propagation environment in the vicinity of Tokyo Station and investigated the frequency extension to the terahertz band and a highly accurate propagation model. From the simulation results, the effect of antenna height and the variation of clutter loss with frequency were investigated, and it was found that a similar model can be used for 30 GHz and 300 GHz, although there is a difference in the maximum loss value. These results are consistent with the trend of the ITU-R model and could be used in the frequency range up to 300 GHz with appropriate parameter settings. The clutter loss model is expected to be made more accurate by dividing the cases according to the relationship between the building height and the reception height. |
