A study on the effect of distance from metal wall on characteristics of 2.4GHz/5GHz dual band LCX antenna

(in English) The wireless Internet of Things (IoT) in factories has been progressing, and it is necessary to cover long, linear wireless communication areas on production lines and AGV (Automatic Guided Vehicle) travel lines. When LCX antennas are installed close to a metal wall, their radiation characteristics change depending on the distance from the wall. In this paper, we evaluated the radiation gain of a 2.4 GHz / 5 GHz dualband LCX antenna for wireless LAN (Local Area Network) when it is installed close to a metal wall in a factory by electromagnetic field simulation. We describe the structure and radiation principle of the 2.4 GHz / 5 GHz band LCX antenna. The simulation results for various distances between the LCX antenna and the metal wall are used to determine the appropriate distance of the LCX antenna from the metal wall to be used in both wireless LAN frequency bands.
