Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Smart fisheries, which involve the ocean current and fish school observation using IoT sensors and drones, have attracted attention. The use of magnetic resonance coupling wireless power transfer (WPT) to empower these IoT terminals located underwater or in the ocean was investigated. Although the receiving coil is placed underwater, the transmitting coil can be located in the air, the boundary surface, and underwater. As the relative permittivity εr of water is significantly high as 81, the wavelength underwater is approximately one-tenth of that in air. First study analyzed the electric field distribution when the transmitting coil was placed underwater, in the air, and at the boundary between water and air. The electric field was found strongest on both sides of the transmitting coil, i.e. in both water and air, when the coil was placed at the boundary. Next study determined the WPT efficiency when the transmitting coil was placed at the boundary and the receiving coil underwater, using the S-parameters and kQ product obtained from electromagnetic field analysis. It was revealed that the maximum WPT efficiency of 80% is achieved at a frequency of around 2 MHz though the coils resonate around 20 MHz.
