In-band full-duplex radios simultaneously transmit and receive signals at the same frequency.
However, self-interference, in which own transmission signal interferes with the desired signal, is a problem.
To sufficiently cancel the self-interference, imperfections of radio-frequency circuits must be taken into account.
In this study, we construct an experimental system using radio-frequency circuits and software radios with shared LO and low-IF architecture, and evaluate the performance of the self-interference canceller.
The use of the shared LO architecture reduces the effects of phase noise, and the use of low-IF architecture reduces the effects of nonlinearity and DC offset.
The experimental results show that the parallel Hammerstein canceller achieves a self-interference cancellation of over 50~dB in our experimental system.
In addition, we show that the low-IF architecture reduces the number of basis functions required without significantly degrading the rejection performance of the canceller, thereby reducing the computational cost. |
