IoT communications operated on the 5G New Radio (NR) system are expected to become increasingly important. For mission-critical IoT communications, it's necessary not only to support massive connections but also to achieve low latency. In this study, we studied systems that use both Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) and grant-free access. For NOMA, we used Power Domain NOMA (PD-NOMA), and for grant-free access, we applied Configured Grant(CG) from the 5G NR specifications. The paper reports on our exploration of introducing Transmit Power Control (TPC) to improve the reliability of the uplink PD-NOMA method. Using TPC helps reduce fluctuations in received power due to fading and improves Block Error Rate (BLER) performance of PD-NOMA using Successive Interference Cancellation (SIC). We evaluated the TPC-enhanced PD-NOMA method through computer simulations and real-device evaluation using a fading emulator. The results showed that TPC effectively reduced the BLER to 1×10-4 under single-path Rayleigh fading with a maximum Doppler frequency of 0.1 Hz. |
