Power line communication (PLC) is a technology that uses power lines to supply electricity and simultaneously carry communication signals, making it easy to construct a communication network simply by plugging into an electrical outlet. In order to use PLC in environments where there are no power outlets, there is a method in which PLC signals are coupled in a non-contact method by connecting adjacent lines with a ferrite core. However, there was no index for selecting a ferrite core suitable for coupling PLC signals. In this report, the amount of signal couple by a ferrite core was evaluated by measuring the communication speed and S parameters, and the maximum transmission efficiency using a ferrite core was obtained by using a kQ product calculated from the measured S parameter. As a conclusion, it is possible that it is possible to select the one with the highest efficiency by the kQ product. However, the amount of couple also depends on the impedance of the power line, so the authors proposed a method for selecting a suitable ferrite core by calculation of the circuit considering the S parameters of the signal couple section and the impedance of the power line. |
