Depth estimation of blood vessels in optical coherence tomography angiography using template matching techniques

(in English) Optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) is an imaging technique that non-destructively visualizes three-dimensional (3D) vascular structures. Although the OCTA is applied to analyze numerous diseases in ophthalmology, the main problem of the OCTA is the difficulty in observing 3D vascular structures in detail due to the tailing artifacts occurring beneath the extracted vascular structures. Additionally, 3D vascular annotation poses challenges in determining the ground truth and is often time-consuming. We propose a new method for estimating vascular depth information that does not require 3D vascular annotation. This paper reports on validating the proposed method’s effectiveness using simulation data.
