Simulation of light propagation in refractive index gradient induced by high-intensity ultrasonic irradiation in the VHF range

(in English) In a previous study, we discovered that high-frequency, high-intensity ultrasound irradiation in water induced a giant refractive index gradient (on the order of Δn = 10-2). In this report, we conducted ray-tracing simulations in a medium with a refractive index gradient induced by ultrasonic irradiation. A numerical model of the refractive index gradient was developed based on the experimental data and ray-tracing simulations were carried out using the Euler-Lagrange equation. The simulation results were close to the experimentally observed trajectory changes of the laser beam when it was injected into a medium with a refractive index gradient.
