This paper describes the results of evaluating coplanar lines' characteristics using printed electronics technology. This technology is the process of forming circuits by printing metals on substrates such as resin or paper. It enables the mass production of electronic circuits at a low cost. Few cases have demonstrated the application of this technology to microwave circuits. Therefore, we evaluated coplanar waveguide (CPW) circuits to confirm the affinity of printed electronics technology for microwave circuits. The measurement results revealed no significant characteristic difference in loss per cm at 1 GHz when compared to conventional CPW lines. However, as the frequency increases, the transmission characteristics deteriorate more than those of conventional CPW. In addition, the transmission line characteristics varied even for the same circuit, we concluded the existence of manufacturing variations. |
