Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Metallic photonic crystal (M-PhC) structures composed of a periodic array of low-loss printed circuit board (PCB) via holes have many advantages such as small size, light weight, high Q circuitry, and high integration density, with a non-propagating region (band gap) from DC to a certain frequency. These advantages offer great potential as a platform to realize various electromagnetic devices in the millimeter/sub-terahertz wave region for beyond 5G. Previous research presented a direct-coupled bandpass filter using MPhC resonators. In this paper, we design a novel quasi-millimeter-wave dual-bandpass filter using a step-tuning method by introducing attenuation poles. First, the coupling matrix suitable for the circuit topology is calculated to match the desired filter characteristics. Next, by comparing the frequency characteristics of the filter to be realized with the results of the electromagnetic field simulator, each resonator structure is determined step-by-step. Finally, the dimensions of the entire filter structure are systematically derived.
