Individual Identification Using Millimeter-Wave Radar Based on Respiratory Features

(in English) Radar-based noncontact identification of multiple individuals has been expected to be used in various settings in our society in the coming years. One of such techniques is to use the limb motion detected as a small Doppler shift called micro-Doppler, with which radar systems can identify individuals using features found in human activities such as walking, running, sitting down and standing up. This study is focused on the extraction of features from radar echoes from stationary individuals. We use respiratory motion as a feature to differentiate individuals for identification. Through radar experiments involving participants, we evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed method and demonstrate its high accuracy compared with conventional methods.
