In Physical-Layer Network Coding (PNC), strategic interference is utilized by allowing simultaneous signal transmissions from selected transmitters, thereby mixing signals at the physical layer. This approach leverages inherent signal interference and information from previous transmissions or intercepted packets to decode these mixed signals, significantly boosting system throughput. Unlike other methods, PNC can effectively double the capacity of certain network configurations without necessitating signal synchronization, demonstrating both its practical viability and substantial performance enhancements. However, limitations in existing PNC algorithms and the constraints imposed by half-duplex mode can interrupt data flow continuity and degrade overall network performance, leading to suboptimal utilization of wireless spectrum resources. To address these issues, we propose a full-duplex PNC model, named Concurrent Physical-Layer Network Coding (CPNC), which introduces a delay parameter δ to reduce the time slot requirement to 1+δ. We also incorporate varying levels of signal-to-noise ratio and fading into our system model to further examine how CPNC can ameliorate network performance by resolving issue of self-interference. Moreover, we explore two distinct relay node strategies, CPNC/AF and CPNC/DF, through simulations to analyze their efficacy. Our findings suggest that by effectively implementing the full-duplex mode, CPNC markedly shows high system performance in terms of BER and average normalized throughput. |
