Recently, with the development of IoT, LoRaWAN has attracted attention as it enables communication over long distances with low power consumption.Whereas in existing LoRa modulation, the spreading factor (SF) can take an integer value only. This paper proposes Fractional Spreading Factor (FSF)-LoRa that allows the SF to take a fractional value.Since the signals with different FSF are semi-orthogonal with each other, multiplexing FSF-LoRa signals can increase the data rate compared to multiplexing LoRa signals.Computer simulations considering interference with a different spreading factor signal confirm that the proposed FSF-LoRa can improve the throughput by about 6% compared to the conventional LoRa system. |
