Implementation and Evaluation of Dynamic Rate Control for Real-Time Image Analysis Based on MQTT Stream Processing

(in English) In this study, we implement dynamic rate control, which dynamically controls the number of analysis frames depending on the GPU performance and network conditions using MQTT messaging protocol. In addition, we develop verification environments assuming both edge computing and cloud computing, and evaluate the latency and the number of subscribed topics with/without dynamic rate control. The evaluation experiments confirm that the number of subscribed topics dynamically increased or decreased in response to changes in latency. This study shows that image analysis can be performed in an environment where multiple communication methods, such as edge computing and cloud computing, are used simultaneously for a single sensor, while maintaining real-time performance and adapting to the processing load or network condition.
