Level 4 autonomous vehicles are expected to give rise to the societal implementation of new services and safety improvements. For public road demonstrations, real-time video transmission to capture the situation inside and outside the vehicle is specified as a technical requirement. On the other hand, since the quality of the network (NW) including the radio access is affected by various inhibiting factors, it is desirable to establish a system that combines both proactive response based on prior detection of quality degradation and reactive response to significant degradation of NW quality affecting information transmission. So far, we have proposed QIM (Quality Index Map) as an NW quality estimation system for stabilizing real-time video transmission from a connected car, which characterizes the NW quality information obtained by passive measurement and expresses the NW quality characteristics by region defined by the time-space axis using probability distributions, and have evaluated its validity as a quality estimation or degradation detection method. In this paper, we have developed the hypothesis that NW quality can be estimated with high accuracy by appropriately tuning the probability distribution and parameters applied to each type of NW and region defined by the time-space axis, have verified it through demonstrations of video transmission from connected cars, and have shown that the desired quality estimation/degradation detection accuracy can be achieved in various environments and that the scope of the application as a method for estimating the absolute value of throughput is limited. |
