Using the pilot signal and the Radon transform, we investigate a method for estimating the rotation angle and the anisotropic scaling rate. Conventional watermarking methods extract the watermark regardless of the type of attack and correct the errors in the watermark directly. For robust watermarking, error correction is effective against non-geometric attacks such as compression distortion. However, for geometric attacks such as scaling, rotation and cropping, other techniques are required. If the type and strength of the attack can be estimated, it would be possible to synchronise the position of the watermark and thus reduce the error in the watermark. In our previous work [9], a single attack of rotation or isotropic scaling could be estimated using a grid-shaped pilot signal and the Radon transform. However, we found that in the case of a combined attack involving anisotropic scaling after rotation, the orthogonality of the pilot signal is no longer valid. Therefore, in the case of the combined attack, we have developed a method to estimate the rotation angle and the scaling rate. As a result of computer simulations, the rotation angle and scaling rate could be estimated even in the case of combined attack. |
