Analysis of common carotid artery blood flow velocity spectrogram using CNN for diagnosis of arteriosclerosis

(in English) This research group is developing a carotid artery blood flow velocity measurement device as a simple screening device to investigate hemodynamics of the circulatory system. In this study, with the goal of evaluating and judging the degree of progression of atherosclerosis, we used the common carotid artery blood flow velocity spectrograms of healthy subjects and atherosclerosis patients measured with a prototype carotid artery blood flow velocity measurement device as training data and classified them into healthy subjects and atherosclerosis patients using CNN. The differences between the spectrograms of atherosclerosis patients and healthy subjects were extracted and compared using Glad-CAM. As a result, there were differences in important aspects of the classification between atherosclerosis patients and healthy subjects.
