In this study we examine the concept of minimum D-invariant extension of a rank-deficient model in quantum estimation theory. Holevo introduced an important class of statistical models where the symmetric logarithmic derivatives are invariant under the action of the commutation relation operator. Later, it has been proven that the right logarithmic derivative bound is asymptotically achievable if the model is D-invariant. It is also known that any model can be embedded into a larger model which is D-invariant. However most previous analysis were based on the assumption of the quantum states are full rank. Less is known about rank-deficient models so far. We first show that a D-invariant extension is not unique in general. We then show the minimum extended model exists only up to kernel of the quantum state. Several applications in quantum estimation are discussed. |
