A number of studies have been devoted to retrieval of optical phase information by direct-detection receivers. Such detection schemes enable dispersion compensation by electrical signal processing after detection and allow complex data modulation, which leads to high-performance yet low-cost medium- and short-reach optical fiber transmission systems. This paper considers application of ptychographic and Fourier-ptychographic phase retrieval approaches to detection of single-channel 16QAM signals by a direct-detection receiver. |
