Possibilities and Challenges of Qualitative Research for Describing Experiences in Virtual Spaces

(in English) In recent years, qualitative research has been increasingly utilized to understand people’s experiences in virtual spaces. This study focuses on the researcher’s body, exploring the possibilities and challenges of using it to collect data in virtual spaces for ethnographic research. The experiment revealed several issues: difficulty of synchronizing movements between real and virtual spaces, discomfort with the researcher's appearance not being accurately represented digitally, and the researcher’s lack of familiarity with VR technology. These challenges seem to stem from the discrepancy between physical sensations in real and virtual environments.
