Investigation on optical characteristics of muddy waters using MT connector-type Fabry-Perot optical fiber sensors

(in English) Investigate This paper reports the results of measuring the return loss and transmission loss of muddy water at different concentrations using an MT connector type Fabry-Perot optical fiber sensor, which is one type of optical fiber sensor. The experiment will be compared with the measurement results of a commercially available turbidity meter, TSS Portable. As a result of the experiment, as the concentration of muddy water increased, the change in sensor return loss with respect to wavelength became smaller. In contrast, both the value and the variation in transmission loss increased. This result revealed that the measurement of sensor’s transmission loss is effective for measuring the concentration of muddy water.
