Physiological analysis of co-laughing speakers elicited by their partners' laughter

(in English) To investigate the influence of the trigger of co-laughter between two interlocutors on their mental states, the physiological responses of the co-laugher, including heart rate, skin conductance level, and electromyograph of the zygomaticus major muscle and corrugator supercilii muscle, were demonstrated based on the difference of the trigger of co-laughter. The trigger of co-laughter was divided into two categories; those caused by the partner's laughter and those caused by the other reason.
Statistical analysis was performed using a generalized linear mixed model in which the response variable was the change scores or change rates of the physiological responses and the explanatory variables were the causality and time course of co-occurring laughter, and individual differences were the random effect.
The results showed that facial muscles were significantly lower during co-occurring laughter elicited by the partner's laughter than the laughter elicited by the other reasons.
