Effects of progress bar speed change on withdrawal in the waiting screen

(in English) Progress indicators, such as progress bars, are used to reduce the perceived time while loading web pages. In our previous studies, we investigated the effect of displaying progress bars on the waiting screen during loading on the user's withdrawal rate. However, our previous studies were limited to progress bars with a constant progress speed. If the speed of the progress bar changes, there is a possibility that the user's withdrawal behavior will change. Therefore, in this paper, we investigated the effect of changes in the speed of the progress bar displayed on the waiting screen on the user's withdrawal behavior. As a result, we found that users were more likely to leave when the progress bar progressed slowly at the beginning of the animation or when the progress bar appeared to be stopped, even during the same waiting time.
