A Reversible Data Hiding Method for EtC Images with Flexible Restoration Patterns

(in English) In this paper, we propose an effective method for reversible data hiding in encrypted images derived by an encryption-then-compression system (hereafter, EtC images). The proposed method achieves high embedding capacity without any restriction in the order of decryption and data extraction. In our previous work, data can be extracted and restored to the original image by using a key set for decryption again from the decrypted image in which information has been still embedded. However, the reuse of the key set on data extraction prevents appropriate access rights control. Thus, by embedding the
encryption data into each block of the EtC image, the proposed method achieves accurate data extraction from decrypted image without reusing the key set. Through our simulations, we prove the flexibility and reversibility of the recovery process and
demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method in terms of embedding capacity
and image quality.
