Evaluation of Rainfall Rate CDF and ITU-R Model in Japan based on 1-min Rainfall Data over Ten Years Provided by Japan Meteorological Agency Takumi Iwamoto (SKY Perfect JSAT) SAT2024-45 |

Rain models such as ITU-R recommendations are used to estimate link availability or rain margin in link budget analysis of satellite communication systems. Meanwhile, recently, as meteorological phenomena like linear precipitation zone are observed more and more frequently, there is a concern about the rain statistics in Japan. This paper shows evaluation results of rainfall rate CDF in Japan and estimation error of the ITU-R recommendations based on 1-minutes rainfall data over 14 years provided by Japan Meteorological Agency. Simulation results show that there is not increasing tendency of rainfall rate CDF over 14 years in Japanese major cities, but ITU-R recommendations underestimate the CDF in each area of Japan. |
