The transportation industry has faced significant challenges due to the rising number of parcels handled by couriers and the concurrent shortage of delivery drivers. In response, the industry is exploring more efficient delivery methods, with the use of drones emerging as a promising solution. The Vehicle Routing Problem with Drones (VRPD) has been proposed as a combinatorial optimization problem, focusing on minimizing delivery costs, including fuel consumption and delivery time. To address this, an adaptive large neighborhood search (ALNS) method has been suggested. The performance of ALNS methods often hinges on the efficiency of customer removal operations. This report evaluates the effectiveness of the traditional ALNS approach by incorporating a novel deletion operation aimed at expanding the solution search space. |
