Investigation of Performance Improvement in DCT-ICA Hybrid Encoding

(in English) DCT-ICA hybrid encoding is a method for efficient encoding of still images, in which DCT is applied to the local features and ICA is applied to the structural features. When using ICA for encoding, it is necessary to reduce the number of ICA basis used for encoding in order to reduce the entropy required to store the ICA basis themselves. In previous studies, performance was improved by narrowing down the number of ICA basis, but since image quality is maximized, it is thought that there is still room for reducing the encode volume. In this paper, we improve performance by emphasizing entropy reduction when entropy is used as the encode amount as an evaluation value.
