In this study, an automated alignment mechanism for the position of laser focus was designed and developed to fabricate Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) using a sequential drawing method based on internal femtosecond laser processing, in which the optical properties can be flexibly adjusted. The alignment mechanism was consisted of piezo-stage and a control software. The software estimates the position of the fiber core from the images acquired by the optical microscope and drives the two-axis piezo stage with correction value obtained from the estimated position. To evaluate the performance of the proposed alignment mechanism, the correction history during FBG fabrication was observed and the reproducibility of FBG fabrication was evaluated. |
