Basic Study on Generation of Inverse Synthetic Aperture Images Utilizing Target Tracking by MIMO Radar

(in English) Conventional security systems for hazardous material detection use X-rays, but X-rays have problems such as health hazards due to radiation exposure to the human body and large equipment size. Millimeter wave radar is therefore considered an effective method for hazardous material detection because it does not affect the human body and its equipment can be made smaller. Inverse Synthetic Aperture Radar (ISAR) is used in this paper because it is necessary to generate high-resolution images for hazardous material detection. However, since target location information is necessary to realize ISAR, MIMO radar (Multiple-Input-Multiple-Output radar) is used for target tracking. In this paper, as a preliminary step of the research using millimeter-wave radar, which is the final goal of this project, the tracking of target movement by MIMO radar using a network analyzer and high-resolution image reconstruction by inverse synthetic aperture radar are examined from mainly simulation and experimental perspectives.
