Distributed Sequential Minimal Optimization Algorithm for Linear Support Vector Machines

(in English) In this report, we propose a distributed Sequential Minimal Optimization (SMO) algorithm for multiple agents communicating with each other to obtain a single linear support vector machine model. An important feature of the proposed algorithm is that it accurately executes the original SMO algorithm, while some of the data held by each agent are shared with other agents. We also present an implementation of the proposed algorithm, leveraging the Message Passing Interface (MPI). Our approach distributes the training dataset across multiple processors, allowing concurrent updates of the Lagrange multipliers, which are crucial in the SMO algorithm. The efficiency of the proposed algorithm and implementation based on MPI is shown through experiments using a real dataset.
