Improved reflection properties of Metasurface with Adam Naoki Shimizu, Mitoshi Fujimoto (Fukui Univ.) AP2024-92 |

In mobile communication systems that use high-frequency bands such as 5G, the strong linearity of radio waves causes shielding by obstacles such as buildings and road signs,resulting in areas where radio waves cannot reach (coverage holes). As a countermeasure, the use of Metasurface reflectors, which can control the direction of reflected waves and reflect radio waves in directions other than the original reflection direction, is being considered. Metasurface reflector consists of multiple unit cells. Due to inter-element coupling between adjacent unit cells, reflection performance is degraded. In this report, we propose a method to improve the reflection performance of supercells by using Adam (Adaptive Moment Estimation). Specifically, the reflection performance is improved by reducing the side lobes. FDTD simulation results show that the proposed method is effective in improving reflection performance. |
