This paper presents the wideband design of a single-layer dual-polarized dual-band and wideband ring microstrip antenna (MSA) fed by two L-probes. The proposed antenna consists of a single-layer dielectric substrate, on which two square and X-shaped ring radiation patches and two L-probes for feeding are arranged in the same layer. A thick dielectric substrate with a relative dielectric constant of 2.6 and a thickness of 3.2 mm is used to obtain wideband characteristics. The design frequencies of the proposed antenna are around 9.0 GHz and 13 GHz. The proposed antenna is designed by using ANSYS HFSS. The simulated results reveal that the frequency ranges with reflection coefficients below -10 dB are from 8.6 to 9.4 GHz for the lower frequency band (1st mode) and from 11.5 to 14.5 GHz for the higher frequency band (2nd mode). The corresponding fractional bandwidths are 9.3% and 23.7%, respectively. Additionally, the port-to-port isolation in these frequency bands is more than 10.6 dB. It is confirmed by the simulation that the proposed single-layer dual-polarized dual-band and wideband ring MSA exhibits good wideband and dual-polarized performance. |
