Marine surveillance radar using electromagnetic waves is used for safety control and detection of drifting objects, and it is important to correctly understand the characteristics of the radar in order to improve its performance. However, it is currently difficult to quantitatively evaluate this performance experimentally. In this study, we quantitatively investigate the relationship between the height of ocean waves, the material and size of drifting objects floating on the ocean, and the magnitude of the obtained spectrum through simulations using the FDTD method, which is a major method for electromagnetic field analysis. |
