Beyond 5G and 6G are considering the use of higher frequency bands than current mobile communication systems. Radio waves in the high-frequency band have strong linearity, creating coverage holes where radio waves cannot reach. Therefore, metasurface reflectors, which control the direction of radio wave reflection to send radio waves in a different direction from the original reflection direction, are attracting attention. In conventional design methods, the reflection phase is controlled by trimming the size of the metal element. Therefore, the phase error is caused by the size error of the metal element. In this paper, we propose a design method for a patch-type metasurface reflector with short posts. The metasurface element and the grand plane are connected by several short posts. Then, the reflection phase is controlled by the presence or absence (combination of placement) of short posts. Through FDTD analysis, it is confirmed that the incident wave is reflected in the desired direction, and the usefulness of the proposed method is demonstrated. |
