The international guidelines defines the specific absorption rate averaged over 10-g tissue (10gSAR) and absorbed power density at frequencies up to 6 GHz and above 6 GHz, respectively, as the basic restrictions for local exposure. The primary frequency bands for the current fifth-generation mobile communication system (5G) are 3.7/4.5 GHz and millimeter-wave bands, with both 4G and 5G frequencies being used simultaneously in communication devices. Additionally, the 52.6–71 GHz range has been introduced as a new frequency band for 5G, and there is potential for the use of even higher frequency bands in future 5G-compatible devices. Although safety assessments based on different metrics are required, local exposure from multiple wave sources with different assessment metrics has been sufficiently evaluated. In this study, we assessed biological temperature rise for simultaneous exposures at multiple frequencies. |
