I attempted to explain that our perception of perspective depth using a mathematical model that shows that visual space is a non-Euclidean space. Perspective depth is a different concept from depth in Euclidean space. The unit scale of perspective depth is not equal, but decreases toward the vanishing point, as linear perspective shows. Therefore, the radius of the visual space can be calculated as an infinite geometric series from the viewpoint to the vanishing point using the scale. The perspective depth we perceive is expressed relative to the radius of this visual space. |
